Nicolette Street
Nicolette Street is an accomplished singer / songwriter that wows an audience every time with her powerful yet pure vocals and strong catchy compositions. She has the fortune of being able to cover a large variety of vocal styles varying from rock, jazz to funky house and dance. Her songs vary from pop to topical pop rock funk and she has decided to go all out and push the pop rock funk side this year. She definitely has one of the most powerful voice you'll have heard |
|---|
Armed with a guitar Nicolette can not only blast out her compositions but also writes about topical issues that are in a sense scarcely spoken about. Most of the titles say what the song is about 'on the tin'. OF COURSE the majority of peoples songs are about Love, etc. etc. Nicolette tries to also write about drugs, physical & alcohol abuse, famine, STDs and the like, in other words the unspoken which is so much easier to send a message through when in melody form. Despite the topical content people enjoy the catchy melodies together with soft yet sometime powerful vocals. There are of course also just some good old thigh slappers with nothing but a good rhythm and melody and nothing to strain the brain too much with.
British singer-songwriter Nicolette Street is launching her second album Rewind on her own record label. - Im over the moon about this release. The songs were all written during challenging times in 2008 and 2009 and I feel that I have created an album that is honest and truthful to my feelings for the events that triggered the songs. states Nicolette. Produced largely by Swedish songwriter and producer Carl Engelmarc, the set boasts full-on dance tracks, soulful rock and big ballads. Nicolette delivers, with a soulful voice of the Pink/KT Tunstall/Kelly Clarkson style, a variety of punchy songs that channel an array of influences from 80s dance/synth ("Its complicated"), Euro Trash (I Kill For You) to Americana influenced punk rock ("Dont Give It Away"). The title track "Rewind" marries early Sheryl Crowe with Aerosmith, while the first single, "Dont Give It Away," is richly constructed pop-rock drenched in keening romantic regret. Nicolette Street doesn't seem to have a lot of luck in love - at least in song. But that's all right when it yields strong lines like, "Time will can heal the wounds thats what the people say. Time will lead the way. Time will heal the wounds, but scars will never go, thats something we all know thats what the record shows.
This is one not to be missed... |

Sugarbeach
A “Mama I Love Her”, their irresistible pumping dance song with a Middle Eastern flavor and a big message, was recently nominated for ”Outstanding International Song of The Year” with the Outmusic Awards in New York. |
|---|
In 2008, they wrote the 30th Anniversary theme song for Vancouver Pride, “Living Out Proud” and have had it snapped up by 12 cities all over the world for videos, presentations and Pride celebrations. Recently remixed by La Chapelle Records in Montreal and added to their “Out and Proud” compilation CD for 2009 of the years’ biggest gay anthems.
Sugarbeach were proud to make history by also performing “Living out Proud” at the official openings of Pride House Whistler and Vancouver at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
“I Just Love Girls”, their first CD was the catalyst for their many Pride appearances in North America which included New York City Pride Rally.
Their second album “Not Deserted” covers GLBTQ love and rights, homelessness plus teen suicide as a result of antigay bullying - but somehow they manage to package these issues into a hooky unashamedly, accessible pop wrapping.
As performers Sugarbeach are energetic, engaging and uplifting. They have made it clear that they are here to rock the boat and get you dancing on it!
